At The Sunny, we believe great hospitality starts behind the scenes—with a team that feels supported, valued, and genuinely cared for. The Director of Human Resources leads this vision by creating a workplace where every Team Member feels welcomed, inspired, and empowered to shine.
In this role, you’ll guide and elevate all HR functions across the hotel, ensuring we attract thoughtful talent, nurture growth, and maintain an environment grounded in fairness, respect, and genuine connection. You’ll champion our culture of caring by coaching leaders, supporting employees through every stage of their journey, and ensuring all practices align with policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations.
From onboarding to ongoing development, employee relations to engagement programming, you’ll help create memorable experiences not just for our guests—but for the people who make The Sunny feel like home.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Uphold guest satisfaction as the guiding philosophy of the hotel
• Ensure all employees are trained to deliver warm, intuitive service
• Empower Team Members to resolve guest needs thoughtfully
• Promote consistent execution of service standards
FINANCIAL
• Develop and manage HR budget with GM
• Track monthly HR department expenses
• Analyze overtime and staffing levels
• Forecast wage and benefit trends
PEOPLE
• Ensure policies are applied consistently and fairly
• Communicate internal opportunities and promote mobility
• Oversee performance review process
• Foster strong supervisor–employee relationships
• Maintain confidentiality in all employee matters
• Support leaders in navigating workplace dynamics
• Coordinate engagement, recognition programs, and events
• Lead recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
• Support professional development and internal growth
QUALITY
• Build cross-departmental partnerships to support operations
• Assist in resolving HR-related challenges
• Monitor training participation and opportunities
• Communicate HR trends and updates to leadership
MANAGING THE BUSINESS
• Ensure compliance with policies, immigration laws, and EEO
• Maintain accurate payroll and records
• Process status changes and documentation
• Administer unemployment and workers’ compensation
• Conduct wage and benefit surveys
• Develop innovative recruiting strategies
• Build community partnerships to support applicant flow
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or 5-8 years of progressive HR experience
• Strong business communication skills with the ability to connect with a diverse workforce
• Fluent reading, writing, and spoken English
• Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to groups
• Solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws
• Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities
• Proven ability to build trust and support a multicultural team
